5 Kitchen Design Trends for 2023

The world of kitchen design is continually developing, and particularly in this post-Covid world, design trends have shifted to adapt to individual and family needs more than ever.

Here are some of the key trends we’re seeing coming into this new year to help you get inspired for 2023.

The modern home is smarter than ever, and the kitchen area should be no exception. From voice controlled devices, such as Alexa and Google Home, to simple additions of LED lighting to accent shelves, to temperature controlled wine fridges; there are so many options for making your life easier and smart kitchen ideas are here to make you cook, eat and shop more convenient and efficient.

The trend for built in pantries was very popular last year, with walk in /hidden pantries remaining a highly requested item by a lot of our clients, and the trend is set to continue throughout 2023.

Cabinets such as breakfast bars or pantries will add storage, style and impact to small kitchens, as they’ll also avoid clutter spilling into the kitchen worktops. The designs which can really provide a wow factor element to your kitchen.

It is no surprise that families are spending more time together, and the modern kitchen is all about having the space for the whole family to gather, to cook and socialise. Our clients’ kitchen projects have become so much more than just designing new look cabinetry and appliances. We can see that certainly into 2023, there will continue to be far more emphasis on areas for dining and seating, and kitchen islands or breakfast bars which also have the ability to provide extra storage.

People have been drawn to nature-inspired and earthy tones and textures for the past couple of years, whether it is raw hardwood cabinetry or natural stone countertops they work in both contemporary and traditional kitchens, and the trend will definitely continue into 2023.

We are also seeing more expressive tactile materials such as metallics, concrete and textured doors. Within this trend we are seeing lots of green colour, which is easily adaptable and can be used in varying depths.

Continuing on from the natural materials trend, Scandi designs are traditionally made up of rustic and functional elements to create a space that is cosy with minimalist smooth lines. The 2023 trend we are seeing here is for black accents, with wood and natural tones.
